Excavated in 1996, this ivory furniture inlay is embellished with amber beads backed with reflective tin of silver and has traces of gold leaf. The doe, at left, was originally decorated with brightly coloured enamel. This unique piece points to contacts with the west and is an indication of the status and sophisticated taste of the Pterians. It measures 29cm. Conservation was carried by Simone Korolnik in the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations, Ankara. The photographs were taken by Behic Gunel and Husein Sen.
